About Me

I’m Robert, a software engineer based in Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in Robotics Engineering. My background spans web development, DevOps/SRE, robotics, and discrete event simulation.

I consider myself a generalist as I have moved across career fields from electrical engineering to quantitative simulation to software engineering, and I’m not tied to any particular tech stack or development workflow as I believe to be flexible enough to adapt to any.

Today, I spend most of my time at Motorola Solutions, architecting and developing software for ASTRO Core Systems and ASTRO Dispatch Systems.

Most of my software development experience has been for federal customers working with air-gapped systems. To understand these environments better and learn what fits them better, I developed a passion for reliably self-hosting my own software, including Forgejo with runners, TrueNAS, Nextcloud, and this website.

Outside of work, I have a passion for tennis, pickleball, padel, and any new trendy racket sport I have not heard of yet. I used to be a college tennis athlete and coached on a nationally ranked team, so let me know if you need any tennis lessons ;)
